It is possible to create a PDF from a wide variety of applications by simply using Acrobat Distiller. Distiller is installed with Adobe Acrobat which is the application needed to create PDFs.

Distiller acts as a virtual "printer" and creating a PDF simply entails "printing" a document and instead of selecting an actual printer, you select "Acrobat Distiller" as the printer.

Below are the general screen-shots, showing the typical settings you should select (or de-select) when creating a PDF using Distiller. The first screen apears after you select Print from the File menu and select 'Acrobat Distiller'.
